Media outlets are making Covid-19 worse than it is?

90,000+ deaths globally, almost 8 billion people on the planet there are many other deadly causes of death than just Covid-19, are news outlets are making it worse than it is?

The virus is deadly and no doubt causing deaths and unimaginable pain for families, but could media outlets be causing long term significant damage to the globally economy by dramatising the virus making things worse which has a knock on effect on health care systems and everyone.
